BOOBIES ROCK! NO MORE
Colorado Attorney General Announces Final Outcome of Charitable Fraud Scam
DENVER — The Denver District Court today handed the Colorado Attorney General’s Office an across the board victory on its complaint against Adam Shryock, the founder of the fake charity fundraiser Boobies Rock!, Inc.. Judge Shelley Gilman ordered Shryock to return $1.89 million in gross receipts, pay $4 million in civil penalties, and also issued an injunction against Shryock from ever working on or near a charitable solicitation again.
“When it comes to protecting Coloradans and successful case outcomes, it doesn’t get any better than this,” declared Colorado Attorney General Cynthia H. Coffman. “Shryock is now guilty of being a repeat charity-fraud offender who harmed legitimate charitable organizations, the public, and his employees through his tawdry and illegal tactics. It is fitting that Mr. Shryock will read about his fate while doing time for his crimes.”
In 2013, the Consumer Protection Section of the Colorado Attorney General’s Office filed a civil complaint against Shryock and his business entities alleging that they were committing charitable fraud. Coloradans are reminded that before donating, they should take the extra steps to thoroughly research any organization, or person claiming to collect for an organization, and ensure their money is finding the right pockets. Consumers and businesses are encouraged to report fraud or suspicious activity.
