DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that his office has joined a $21 million multistate settlement with Dannon to settle allegations that the food company made unsubstantiated claims concerning the health benefits of its Activia and DanActive products. Colorado will receive $425,000 under the multistate settlement.

DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that his office has joined a $13.25 million multistate settlement with DirecTV to settle allegations that the satellite television provider engaged in deceptive trade practices. Colorado will receive $185,000 under the multistate settlement.

DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that his office has filed separate lawsuits against three businesses and five individuals accused of defrauding homeowners in Denver, Boulder, Broomfield and Adams counties through deceptive foreclosure rescue schemes.

DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that Colorado and seven other states will receive $23.7 million from Wells Fargo to settle allegations surrounding deceptive advertising and problematic lending practices of Wachovia and World Savings when offering an option ARM loan known as a “Pick-a-Pay loan.” 1 Wells Fargo acquired both banks in late 2008. Colorado will receive $900,000 under the multistate settlement.

DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that Colorado and 33 other states have settled allegations that Publishers Clearing House violated a 2001 consent decree prohibiting it from using false and deceptive trade practices to entice consumers to participate in its sweepstakes. Colorado will receive $320,000 from the $3.5 million settlement.

DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that an Arapahoe County District Court judge has approved a settlement barring Tyrone E. Tymkovich (DOB: 12/30/1977) of Aurora and Sam Levine (DOB: 2/1/1967) of Castle Rock from soliciting or defrauding Colorado businesses through their business brokerage. Tymkovich and Levine will be required to pay $1 million each to the state in fines and restitution.

DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that a Jefferson County District Court judge has barred Sherron L. Lewis, Jr., (DOB: 9/26/1956) from providing consumers with foreclosure-relief services. Lewis, who is not licensed to practice law, also was ordered as part of the preliminary injunction to pay more than $76,000 in restitution to his victims, including an elderly Illinois woman.

DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that an Arapahoe County District Court judge has ordered Tyrone E. Tymkovich (DOB: 12/30/1977) of Aurora to pay $160,000 after he violated a Feb. 18, 2010 order barring him from soliciting businesses as a broker.

DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that his office has filed a lawsuit against a Denver man suspected of defrauding homeowners in foreclosure, including the elderly and disabled, by collecting upfront fees in exchange for fraudulent legal services.

DENVER — Colorado Attorney General John Suthers announced today that his office has obtained a judgment against American Mortgage Consultants, its owner, Oliver Paul Maldonado (DOB: 12/15/1972), and its principal employee, Santiago Fabian Pineda (DOB: 6/24/1978), barring the company and its officers from engaging in mortgage fraud or any aspect of the mortgage business. American Mortgage Consultants, Maldonado and Pineda will be required under the consent judgment to pay a total of at least $75,000 in fines and restitution to the state.
