Denver -- Colorado Attorney General Cynthia H. Coffman is once again warning Coloradans to avoid falling victim to IRS tax scams. While tax scammers operate year round, their efforts  intensify as April 15th approaches. These attempts to swindle often begin with callers claiming to be federal Internal Revenue Service agents seeking immediate payment of taxes. The phony agents use intimidation tactics such as threats of arrest, liens on property, deportation, or driver’s license revocation in to scare consumers into making payments or disclosing personal information.

Coffman wins a court order prohibiting AAAA Television Electronics Vacuum and Appliance (“AAAA TEVA,) its owner Muhammed Murib, and sales manager Omar Murib, from conducting any further repair business, including the advertising of any repair services, pending a trial on the Attorney General’s November 2015 Complaint against these Defendants.

DENVER – Colorado Attorney General Cynthia H. Coffman is alerting Colorado consumers about an increase in scams involving unsolicited phone calls or pop-up computer messages warning that their computer has been infected by a virus. In these swindles, consumers can be charged thousands of dollars to have their computers “diagnosed” and imaginary virus removed.

DENVER -- Colorado Attorney General Cynthia H. Coffman revealed today that her office, in cooperation with the Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) at the Colorado Department of Revenue, is investigating whether persons obtaining – and then selling – DMV appointments under the Colorado Road and Community Safety Act (CO-RCSA) are violating Colorado law.
